This position is with Alden Kinsley PLLC, a separate attorney-owned law firm and the hiring or engaging entity. For Alden Kinsley PLLC recruiting, RMS may provide sourcing, threshold screening, scheduling, and verification administration. Alden Kinsley PLLC alone decides professional competence, conflicts, engagement, supervision, invoice approval, payment, and tax reporting.

Alden Kinsley PLLC, the current Virginia attorney-owned law firm handling business and commercial disputes, is a fully distributed (virtual-office) practice seeking an exceptional litigation attorney for contract, overflow work in Central Virginia — the Richmond, Charlottesville, and Lynchburg region. You take matters end to end — strategy, drafting, motion practice, negotiation, and court appearances — on an as-needed basis that flexes with the firm's docket. RMS may provide defined nonlegal administrative support, while Alden Kinsley PLLC retains control of its operations and every legal and professional decision.

Responsibilities: - Handle business and commercial disputes — contract disputes, breach of contract, and related commercial litigation — from evaluation through resolution - Develop case strategy and counsel clients on risk, exposure, and resolution paths - Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery, and settlement agreements - Conduct depositions, negotiate with opposing counsel, and appear in Central Virginia state and federal courts — Richmond, Charlottesville, and Lynchburg areas - Take overflow matters as needed, managing your own docket and deadlines independently in a fully distributed practice

Qualifications: - Active admission to the Virginia State Bar and in good standing - Professional liability (malpractice) insurance in force, or ability to obtain coverage before engagement - Substantial litigation experience with a focus on business, commercial, or contract disputes - Demonstrated first-chair or lead-attorney experience handling matters end to end - Able to appear in person in Central Virginia courts (Richmond, Charlottesville, and Lynchburg region) as matters require - Strong drafting, negotiation, and courtroom skills - Proficiency with legal research platforms, including AI-powered tools (Thomson Reuters CoCounsel, Anthropic Claude, or similar), with the judgment to verify every output - Self-directed in a virtual-office environment; able to manage multiple matters and deadlines independently

Compensation: Approximately $200 per hour, commensurate with experience. This is an independent-contractor (1099) engagement for overflow work as needed — matter volume flexes with the firm's docket — in a fully distributed, virtual-office practice.
