Litigation Paralegal (Contract) — Virginia
An independent, attorney-owned firm in the Relevant Law network is seeking a litigation paralegal, on an independent-contractor (1099) basis, to support attorneys handling matters across Virginia. This is a substantive role for a proven drafter and researcher: you prepare pleadings, discovery, and correspondence; manage filings and deadlines in Virginia state and federal courts; and keep matters moving in a remote-first practice.
Responsibilities:
- Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, demand letters, and substantive correspondence
- Conduct legal and factual research, including court records and research platforms
- Manage court filings and deadlines across Virginia state and federal courts, including e-filing and local procedure
- Organize case files, exhibits, and document productions
- Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel's offices as directed
Qualifications:
- Solid litigation-paralegal experience, with a record of drafting pleadings and discovery
- Strong familiarity with Virginia state and federal court procedures and filing systems
- Excellent organization and deadline management across multiple concurrent matters
- Proficiency with research platforms, including AI-powered tools, with the judgment to verify every output
- Self-directed in a remote-first environment; able to work independently with distributed attorneys
Compensation: $50–$75 per hour, commensurate with experience. This is an independent-contractor (1099) engagement in a remote-first, distributed practice.
